Come see me at WPPI and win my favorite photo flashlight!

I did a lighting workshop on @creativeLIVE not long ago and it's funny how the simple things make people go bananas! One of tools I used for simple, but beautiful lighting was a great little powerful flashlight that I got online. When I showed it on the program, the website promptly sold out! I got my hands on a few more and thought it would be fun to give a couple away at the WPPI convention this coming week.

All you have to do is attend one of my programs and tweet something I said using the hashtag #kevinsaid and @kevinkubota. So, your twitter will look something like this, "Just heard @kevinkubota at WPPI and #kevinsaid You can't create in a vacuum, unless u want to suck."

Easy peezy, right!? I'll pick two winners during WPPI and let you know via twitter (make sure you are following me so I can DM you) that you won. You can come grab your light at my WPPI booth #1412.

So, I'll be speaking at:

  • WPPI U - "The 10-Step Program for Growing Your Photo Business" Saturday, March 9, 8:30am - 9:30am
  • WPPI Platform - "Pimp Your Speedlight – Location Lighting Tips and Techniques" Sunday, March 10th, 9:00am-10:30am
  • Nikon Booth #711 - "Do you feel lightheaded?" Tues, March 12th at 11:45am and Wed, March 13th at 12:30p. Both programs are 30 min.
  • My booth! #1412 - Of course, I'll be in our booth the rest of the time speaking about just about anything I can think of.

Look at this great lineup of speakers in the Nikon booth! What an honor to be with this bunch :-)

Asukanet Workshop in Tokyo

If you were at the Lighting workshop today in Tokyo, hosted by Asukabook, then どうもありがとう.

You can download the workshop notes here. Please remember to use the password that I provided at the workshop.

I am so thankful to all my friends and co-workers in Japan who have been very gracious and generous! I absolutely love visiting Japan and look forward to each opportunity. Asukanet Japan is the parent company of AsukaBook USA and they were hosting this seminar as part of the kick-off program for our new Zen Layflat books. These books are exquisitely printed and have beautiful seamless bindings that, well, lay flat. We'll be launching them in the USA at the beginning of September.

If you've heard of our Photographers Ignite program that has become immensely popular at WPPI in Las Vegas, you probably recall the photographic duo of Dee and Tracey, from Australia but now living and working in Japan. They've been here for 15 years and have really done some unique things to start a photography business against all odds. Check out their videos on the Photographers Ignite website to see what I'm talking about. It's a great story and they were some of the most popular speakers at Ignite. Tomorrow I get to hang with both of them and explore the Ramen Museum (the assured me the ramen would be fresh) and other oddities.
