Holiday Gift Guide part 5

by Ryan, Creative Director

It's the holidays again and the time of year for lists. Best of lists, worst of lists, and; of course Christmas wish lists. Here's a few things I'd be excited to find in my stocking.

The Phaidon Archive of Graphic Design
Inspiration comes from all over, so whether you're a photographer, a designer or just like to know the history of  the visual stuff you see every day, there is The Phaidon Archive of Graphic Design. It features 500 graphic designs including newspapers, magazines, posters, advertisements, typefaces, logos, corporate design, record covers and moving graphics from around the world.

Apple Mac Pro 12-Core desktop
When I fist started designing on a computer, I used one of the ill fated - and rightly so - Power Computing Apple clones. It really didn't do anything well except sit there looking beige. And if memory serves, it had a 150MHz processor and MAYBE 8MB of RAM. Making it seem just a hair quicker than an Italian art film.

Now Apple has released a new 12-core 2.4 GHz intel processor. 12- CORE 2.4 GHZ! What the what?! Look, I know a computer is really just a fancy pencil, but this pencil goes faster than a 6 pack of PBR at a hipsterconvention.

Specialized Demo 8 S-Works edition
I'm a lucky guy, I like what I do. I really enjoy making graphic design. But there are few things I like more than flying down a mountain on a bicycle. And this is the bike I'd like to do it on. It sports a carbon fiber frame, 8 inches of travel and a parts spec fit for a king. Unfortunately, at $10,000.00 US, it has a price tag to match. I know, it's not photography related but wow, it sure is pretty to look at.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone!
Ryan
