Workshop in Greece - day 1

I just completed our first day workshop in Greece. The photographers were all very nice and fun to work with - although I occasionally had some things "lost in translation", I think we understood each other fairly well. We talked about using a flash fired through a diffuser to enhance flat lighting and how to create natural feeling images even if they are completely posed. You can see a few of the images from the shoot in this gallery. Click here to see the gallery of images.

This image was shot in natural light under the shade of an outdoor awning. The light was rather flat, however, so I busted out my handy 45" translucent disc and fired my SB900 through it TTL from the left - just outside of frame. This created a nice, soft directional light that still looks natural. I set the TTL power to –0.3.
